Senior photography is one our most favorite genres of photography. What we love about doing weddings and glamour we bring to our senior sessions. We believe that senior year is a milestone in any teens life. It’s hard, it’s exciting and it’s even a little bit scary as they prep for adulthood. We think every senior should have the opportunity to captured in a way that highlights who they are. Everyone remembers the 90’s and even early 2000’s senior photos. Wicker chair. Birch Tree. Fist under chin. Hand on back of the chair. Twist that head and say “CHEESE!” That time is all but gone anymore. Senior portraiture is about doing something exciting and different, giving the senior an opportunity for a once in a life time experience. These are NOT your mama’s senior photos.
Enter our Tatum Photo and Design Senior Concept Collection. Senior Concept is an amazing collection that we offer our seniors so that they can have a once in a lifetime experience. They will be given 2 separate days of photography, one for the more traditional looks (still with our flare of course) and then day 2 is your concept day. Both days are filled with hair and make up for the ladies, and fellas generally end up getting a trim and hair style in our in house salon before their sessions. On your concept day we execute a previously developed fantasy/story that we develop with our senior. These can be completely made up, conceptual backgrounds/ideas, or in this case, a fairytale. We go above beyond. We purchase costumes, we build sets, we do whatever it takes to pull off the concept.
Meet Haley.
Haley booked a concept package with us and we were THRILLED. We tossed around different ideas and as soon as we said “Red Riding Hood” her face lit up! “YES! I wanna do that SO bad!” So we set out to find our wardrobe, got her the gear she needed and scheduled her first session.
We spent the day getting her all beautified and set out for her first day of shooting her more “traditional” senior photos with of course the Tatum P+D flare.
After a fantastic day of shooting Haley in the gorgeous fall weather in Northern Michigan, we scheduled day 2: Glamour and Red Riding Hood. Why do we do it in 2 separate days? We do a lot of changing of hair and make up and do quite a bit of wardrobe changing, traveling and set up for these sessions. We like to make sure we have the best lighting available to us and want the senior to feel energized for the experience. It’s a long day of modeling if we did it all at once!
So first up, Haley’s Glamour look, and can we just say WOW. She ROCKED this.
After we wrapped up that breath taking session, we whisked Haley off for her Red Riding Hood look. We were so excited about this session. We found a fantastic location at her aunt’s house. It even started raining (fairly hard actually) and it totally helped set the mood for our moody session. Haley was such a champ, even when we had her running (over and over again) she gave it her all and we think it totally paid off. Here is our Senior Concept: RED RIDING HOOD.
We LOVED working with Haley and were so happy with how these images turned out. Showing her and her parents the outcome was one of the most rewarding ordering sessions EVER. Her parents kept saying “oh WOW….Oh my goodness…..Oh WOW Haley!”. It was so much fun and I absolutely love the outcome of her images.
